New Sonos Speakers and Table from IKEA
Symfonisk Speaker
I have been eyeing the IKEA Symfonisk bookshelf speakers since they were launched in 2019. These are in fact Sonos speakers. I was so keen that I even went ahead to buy speaker stands for my Sonos Play:1s in 2019 before the Symfonisk were available in Singapore. It didn’t help that I had to (a) clock the minimum credit card spending that month to maximise the benefits and (b) the Play:1 was being replaced with the Sonos Ones and I was worried that compatible stands would be harder to find.
My plan at that time was to move the old Play:1s out of the bedroom and use them as surround speakers after I get the Symfonisk. This would also provide additional flexibility to Airplay to the bedroom. Well, the Symfonisk took a while to be available in Singapore and after waiting so long, I decided to wait a few more months to maximise on earning IKEA Family points (3x Family points on birthday month)
If you are planning to get this, do note that the notch for the cable is only found on one side – where it is used as a shelf.

Strandtorp Extendable Dining Table
As the birthday month drew closer, there was another round of Covid-related measures i.e. more work from home (wfh) and home based learning. We decided that it was time to get a larger dining table – something we had been wanting to do but procrastinating. And we came across the IKEA Strandtorp Table that was just perfect for our needs, fits into our lift and easy on the wallet.
The Strandtorp Dining Table appears to be a new design. It is extendable from 150 cm to 205 cm to 260 cm. With the extendable design, it would definitely fit into the lift.
Quality-wise, one of the screw holes was not properly aligned. But as it was holding the extension rail and not load bearing, I decided not to bother with warranty / exchange. Furthermore, I had already disassembled the old table to make space for the new one.
With wfh, it is currently permanently extended at 260 cm.

Table top: Particleboard, Plastic foil, Plastic edging
Side rail: Steel, Epoxy/polyester powder coating, Acrylic coating
End rail / Leg Bn/ Bracket: Steel, Epoxy / polyester powder coating
Wipe clean with a cloth dampened in a mild cleaner. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
For maximum quality, re-tighten the screws when necessary.
